This painting is inspired by a black and white rodeo photo of my father from the late 70's. I remember the horses from my childhood. Shorty, the dogging horse, was short, all business, and was prone to running away with you when on him bareback. Clarence, the hazing horse, was a charmer who could do whatever asked -- including running a nice little barrel pattern. My father passed away in the 80's, but was a huge inspiration to my immersion in western art.
