On Deck

20" x 24" Oil on Canvas

Private Collection

Growing up in Nevada, team roping was common activity down in our arena. It wasn't just for practice, it was a social friends and family event. The resource for this painting was a shot I took behind the scenes at the Greeley Stampede. It brought back memories.

Interesting note about the new owner: She has a background in horses and rural life so this painting resonated with her on multiple levels and evoked memories and emotion. But the comment that stuck with me was: "It feels like anticipation. And I want to feel that every time I look at it." I took that as a great compliment!
